Ch’áak was captured on the June 9th, 2014 on Douglas Island. His transmitter was formally worn by 4U, who died of starvation early in 2014. Ch’áak was a territorial bird, part of a nesting pair. He moved very little beyond the area in which he was captured. We lost signal from his transmitter in early 2015, and his nest was inactive that spring, suggesting the possibility that either he or his mate died. His name means “bald eagle” in Tlingit.
